Bird Photographs by Amano Samarpan

Samarpan started taking photos with a little box camera when he was in Nepal in the 1980‘s. On his return to the UK he decided to study photography as it had become such a fascination for him. He studied with leading photographers and had many photographs and accompanying articles published in books and well known magazines such as Discover India.

He is interested in two main areas – images of things of a spiritual nature eg Tibetan sacred dances, and wild life especially birds.

He has travelled all over the Indian sub-continent in search of rare species of birds and has published a book called A Photographic Guide to the Birds of India" is available though Amazon or from the NHBS Environment Bookstore – seach for "Samarpan").

The idea for his book, "A Photographic Guide to the Birds of India including Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Pakistan and Bangladesh" was suggested by an Indian publisher (Wisdom Tree, New Delhi, India) a few years ago but the project has only recently been completed. The book contains many photographs as well as a text written by Samarpan. These beautiful photographs were all taken in the Indian sub-continent over the last 10 years in wild life parks such as the Corbett National Park near Delhi, the Kaziranga Park in Assam and the Devateerth Park in Poona behind the Meditation Resort.

Samarpan is currently working on a second book – a large coffee table one full of his beautiful exotic photographs.
